Youth for Media Justice
Youth for Media Justice (Y4MJ) was a program that Media Literacy Project launched in the summer of 2014. The program ended when MLP closed on June 30, 2015. Y4MJ was for young people ages 15 to 21 in Albuquerque who were interested in working on media policy and media justice issues. The youth group formed while planning the agenda for the Nuestras Voces/Our Voices Event on June 30, 2014 in which the youth, Media Literacy Project, and the New Mexico Digital Justice Coalition hosted a visit from Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler. Youth for Media Justice centered the event on youth dialogue and spoke the night of the event.
Y4MJ sought to educate other youth on media policy issues and get them involved in taking action.
