From This Day On weaves together the stories of eight young women as they share what impacts their bodies, health, and lives. This beautiful and inspiring video expresses both the challenges they face and how they overcome these challenges. This video was selected to screen at the International Experiments in Cinema Film Festival regional youth program in 2015 and was also selected as part of the National Strong Families Online Youth Film Festival in 2015.

Marisol Meyer

Marisol was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She moved to Albuquerque in 2010 where she began to study the art of Artesania as well as visual art at Tierra Adentro of New Mexico. At Tierra Adentro she started a student council and an art mural group. In the fall of 2014, the Charter School Coalition honored her as the charter school student of the year in New Mexico. That same fall, she was a speaker at the TEDxABQ Youth Event. Marisol plans to study anthropology and the arts when she begins college in 2015.

Pria Garcelle Jackson

Pria is graduating from the Media Arts Collaborative Charter School in 2015. She describes herself as one sly fox from Long Branch, New Jersey. She loves hot drinks, warm blankets, and good books. Being part of Girl Tech was the best part of her summer.

Georgia West

Georgia is graduating from Albuquerque High School in 2015. She plans on attending Berkeley College in New York for business studies in July of 2015. She has been a community organizer for over five years and just recently joined the board of Young Women United. Georgia was part of the Girl Tech program in 2012 and returned to share her knowledge and learn new skills in the 2014 program.

Denise Reyes

Denise is graduating from the Public Academy for Performing Arts in 2015. There she has studied ballet and theater which are two things she is very passionate about. After graduation she plans on going to Central New Mexico Community College and majoring in cosmetology.

Alma Olavarría Gallegos

Alma was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is graduating from Albuquerque Academy in 2015. On campus she is involved in her school’s Student Diversity Leadership Club. She also mentors girls and tutors younger students. Off campus she is an active member of Generation Justice, a multimedia organization for youth. Alma is a painter, swimmer, and writer who hopes to travel and learn throughout her life.

Adriana Anessa Hernandez

Adriana was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has years of experience in filmmaking, photography, and audio. Adriana plans to go to college to become a teacher after high school. She was a student at the Media Arts Collaborative Charter School and currently attends Manzano High School where she is taking teaching classes.

Melanie López-Monzón

Melanie was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She will be graduating from Albuquerque High School in May of 2015. She plans to become a veterinarian and learn new things along the way of pursuing her career. She enjoys being out and doing things that she is good at, especially if it is some form of art. Melanie has been a member of Young Women United (YWU), a reproductive justice organization, for five years. She is happy that Girl Tech this year gave her the opportunity to learn new skills.

Flor Silva

Flor was born and raised in Palm Springs, California before moving to New Mexico. She attends the Public Academy of Performing Arts and will be graduating in 2017. After graduation she plans to major in engineering. Flor enjoys art, music, and watching others perform.
