Media Literacy for Prevention - Mini Unit
This multimedia resource is a condensed version of the Media Literacy for Prevention Five-Day Unit DVD. It teaches media literacy skills by examining tobacco, alcohol, and food marketing.
What’s on the DVD?
- One multimedia presentation featuring 33 media examples from television, websites, magazines, movies, and other resources. Each presentation can be used with learners ages 12 to adult and can be delivered in 45-60 minutes.
- A printable discussion guide you can use with the media examples on the disc. The discussion guide includes questions and suggested answers, activities, and education standards, and resources.
- A media gallery you can use to display individual media examples in any order.
Learners will:
- Understand media literacy concepts and skills
- Learn how to deconstruct media messages
- Gain an understanding of how corporations market to youth
Media Literacy for Prevention Mini Unit has been designed for presentations and discussions in classrooms, community organizations, professional development trainings, and other group settings.
Media examples are captioned and the discussion guide is available in large print.
