Announcing the 2015 Bad Ad and Counter Ad Winners
Media Literacy Project had two Bad Ad Contest winners and four Counter Ad Contest winners this year. The bad ad essay writers selected ads that they deemed offensive and deconstructed them using media literacy tools. The counter ad creators selected original images and then altered them to tell their own story about the media messages.
We received hundreds of submissions from across the country from grades 4-12. We were happy to read some great essays from local 4th and 5th graders who attend Georgia O'Keeffe Elementary in Albuquerque. These elementary students wanted to compete in the Bad Ad Contest against grades 6-12 and had some very insightful things to say about the ads they analyzed.
