Help! We Were Robbed!

In December 2012, some of Media Literacy Project’s video cameras were stolen. These cameras were lent to community members, MLP program participants, and local schools for media literacy and media production projects. We need new cameras and we need your help to get them!

MLP Volunteers Support Media Justice

In 2012, Media Literacy Project had the support of over 20 volunteers and interns who collectively contributed over 750 hours of their time to our media justice efforts! 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of Media Literacy Project and we are again calling on volunteers to support our media justice efforts.

You can be part of Girl Tech 2013!

Girl Tech 2013 will be Media Literacy Project’s fourth year of our Girl Tech program. Media Literacy Project is currently recruiting Girl Tech program participants and volunteers! A participant must identify as a young woman of color, be between the ages of 15 and 24, and have a passion for making change in her community!

Media Literacy Project: 20 years of media literacy and media justice

Twenty years ago, media was nothing like it is today. Personal computer screens had just made the transition to color, laptops were an anomaly rather than an every-day appliance, and cellular phones did not fit in people’s pockets. The term “World Wide Web” was the purview of Tim Berners-Lee and a few others in his network.

Bad-Ad Counter-Ad Contests are back!

Media Literacy Project's nationwide contest is back for the 2012-2013 school year! All we're asking students to do is find a bad adverstisement, tell us why it is bad, and/or make it better. The best entries will win cash prizes. Now, all we are asking parents and teachers to do is spread the word.

Media Literacy Project (MLP) is honored to be an awardee at the 1st Fueling Increasingly Relevant Education (F.I.R.E.) Awards on October 11. This award recognizes educators and organizations promoting social justice and equity in the classroom and in the community.

Media Literacy Project to host two IREX Fellows from Uganda

Media Literacy Project (MLP) recently celebrated a milestone with the New Mexico Community Foundation (NMCF). Since 2007, NMCF has invested over $1 Million in the health and rights of women and girls in the State of New Mexico.
