MLP Welcomes New Fellow
For the third year Media Literacy Project is hosting a Community Solutions Leader. The Community Solutions Program is a program of the U.S. State Department and implemented by IREX. Bozena (Boba) Baluchova joined Media Literacy Project in August. Boba comes to New Mexico from Slovakia and is a journalist and teacher there. Last year Boba worked as a development field worker in Kenya. She’s been providing development education trainings for several NGOs in Slovakia and Czech Republic with a focus on peer solidarity, intercultural learning, and sensitive media coverage. Boba is also responsible for community projects at two Slovak nonprofit organizations: DocUnion and Pluto NGO. Boba earned her Master’s degrees in documentary film, journalism, and geology. She also holds a PhD in mineralogy and is currently pursuing a second PhD.
We are excited to have Boba spend four months in Albuquerque this fall working with Media Literacy Project as a Community Solutions Leader. She will be part of MLP’s campaign team and will assist with organizing for media justice in New Mexico and with research regarding MLP’s media justice survey.
